Jackson Browne has not changed his hairstyle in the last 50 years. When you write songs as well as he has, why bother?
Come see and hear proof of the songwriting excellence when Tributosaurus becomes Jackson Browne on Wednesday November 7th at Martyrs and Friday November 9th at Wire.
Jackson Browne is right up there with Joni Mitchell, his friends from The Eagles, and CSN as one of the best artists to come out of the Laurel Canyon music scene of the early 70’s. The melodies are pure, the musicianship excellent, the lyrics timeless, and his influence lasts through to rock, folk and country today.
His song catalog is so incredibly good, and we’ve been dying to play this music for years. You know “Doctor My Eyes” from his self titled debut, but there are perfect deeper cuts throughout that record. You know “Running On Empty” from the massively popular entirely live album of the same name, but there are 5 or 6 other equally great songs on there as well. You know “Take It Easy,” perhaps only as The Eagles’ song, but Jackson wrote it with his pal Glen Frey. Maybe you know “These Days,” as recorded by Nico and featured on The Royal Tenenbaum’s soundtrack; a 19 year old Browne wrote and played that in support of his then girlfriend Nico.
Jackson Browne songs create feelings that last through decades. “Tender Is The Night” is gorgeous and powerful. “Somebody’s Baby” is longing and loving at the same time. “The Pretender” is celebratory, even as it exposes a vulnerability that unites us all. His vocals and words have poured out of the radio all our lives; it’s like they’ve been around forever.
Come bask in the excellence of Jackson Browne with us.
These songs will infect your soul, and you will regret nothing.
