TRIBUTOSAURUS SIGNATURE SERIES : |
For those of you who have not looked at the Martyrs' calendar lately, we wanted to make sure everyone is aware that we will NOT be playing tomorrow night, on out regular Wednesday - this month is a Signature Series event, and will take place on Friday/Saturday, April 16th and 17th. The bad news is, Friday is completely sold out, but there are VERY few tickets left for the Saturday show as of this writing, so if you're looking to attend, it's time to click the link above!
It's not often that we break from our regular formula of one band, one month - so when we do, it's for something really special. We created the Signature Series to showcase these shows that do not fit in to our usual charter, and this time, we answer the throngs that have asked us "Will you guys ever do a one-hit wonders show"? Yes, we will. But the One Hit Wonder is not a rare bird - on the contrary - there are hundreds of top ten hits by artists who never even sniffed the charts again - thousands if you expand that to the top 40. So how could we possibly get it done? We decided that we need to divide this up into eras to make the pool a little smaller, and we're starting with the 1970s - and what a deep and wide pool it is. Left over psychedelia and folk from the 60s, the heart of the disco era, the richest vein of art rock ever, and the beginnings of the 80s electronica sound are all present here, and so much more. The 70s were a time of experimentation in America in all walks of life, especially in the music scene. There are the quirky little ditties that were too catchy to forget, and the incredible songs that you always thought were part of a larger catalog, but weren't. And we will touch on all of it. This means we need a longer show, right? Right. We probably ought to move it to the weekend so people don't have to worry about work the next day too, huh? Good idea. In order to present this in it's proper light, we are pulling out all the stops and moving the show to Friday and Saturday night, April 16 and 17, and we're going to extend it to a healthy 2 sets for over 3 hours of music, once on each night. This is a new type of event for Tributosaurus, and it promises to be something truly amazing - so don't miss it!

And the May show is....
Make like Lincoln & Damen is Haight & Ashbury with us, as Tributosaurus becomes Jefferson Airplane, for 2 shows on Wednesday May 5th at Martyrs. The folk, the avant-garde, the blues, the decaying sexual relationships; we’ll try to represent it all in a set spanning JUST THE AIRPLANE portions of the band’s career. Starship will be some other night. Or not. Come listen as we become the band that was one of the main fixtures of the San Francisco scene in the 1960's, and whose album Surrealistic Pillow defined the Summer of Love. If you have even a little hippie in your soul, this show calls out to you. We’ve been talking about this one for years…paying proper homage to the only band to play Woodstock, Monterey, and Altamont. Use that fact to impress your friends, then make them come to the show with you.
